I have been sitting on this review for a few day, unsure of how to proceed. For the first time since I started writing reviews, I have been struck dumb, unable to right and fitting words exactly how I feel about this book.
Calvin has lost his grandfather to old age, and, in turn, inherited a book store. Not just any store either. A historical landmark in Big Sur California and what used to be a popular hang out spot for the hippies back in the 60’s and 70’s. Just before his grandfather died he signed a contract with a clothing company to come and do a photo shoot on his property, since they want a “bohemian” feel for the photographs. Since there is 5 months before the shoot, Calvin takes a leave of absence from his job and moves to Big Sur to run the bookstore until the fulfillment of the contract. Then the plan is to sell the store.
Cue Lucia Bell, a jaded, ultra-beautiful supermodel with 2 million followers on Instagram. She is good, really, really good, at being a supermodel, but her heart isn’t in it anymore. She loves the fame, but something is missing from the life that she can’t put her finger on.
The chemistry between these two, it is tangible. It is read with a lump in your throat and an ache in your chest good. It starts off hot enough and by the end it is searing. Calvin is so hot, he is self described as a nerd, but he is also an unrealized Dom and when he realizes it, well, he leaves us all panting and needing more Calvin.

Poetry plays a big part in the love story between these two passionate lovers. Lucia breaks the stereotypes of vapid super models and is actually very well read, especially in poetry, and even used to write a little too. Calvin is obviously a book nerd as well, so they make a good match when talking about literature. We all know as readers that this is such a turn on, and the author does a great job on capitalizing on that. The book store presents a perfect backdrop for these two to fall in love.
Ugh, ready for my rant? This book was amazing. It made me feel all the feels I love when reading a romance. The angst was so angsty I cried and cried. The sex was so hot I melted, I was sweating, I looked around to see if anyone was looking at me liked they knew what I was reading. The writing was so beautiful and the imagery of California so accurate all I could do was think about the Redwoods for days. I have been literally lovesick over them, For. Days.
Best book of 2017 so far. 5, 6, 10, I give it all the stars.
